Social video is often watched in fragments: on a train, between meetings or with the sound muted. That does not mean the work should be disposable. It means the edit must communicate instantly and reward attention quickly.

Put the value before the introduction

Start with the result, tension or most useful statement. Branding can arrive naturally once the viewer understands why the video matters. A hook should be truthful—not a sensational promise the rest of the video cannot fulfil.

Treat captions as design

Accurate captions make the message accessible and protect it when audio is unavailable. Break text into readable phrases, maintain strong contrast and leave space for each platform's interface.

Automated captions are a useful first pass, but names, specialist terms and punctuation need a human review.

Edit for each placement

A vertical Reel, a LinkedIn post and a YouTube film do not create the same viewing behaviour. Preserve the idea, but adapt duration, pacing, framing and call to action for the placement.

The efficient approach is to plan these versions during production. Shoot with safe framing, record concise answers and collect visual details that can bridge shorter edits.
